Korean Consulate in Jeddah held its annual “Korean Night” event on the 4th of Dec as part of its cultural activities. The event was aimed at promoting people-to-people contact and mutual understanding between the two nations.
This year’s event focused on the upcoming 2018 Peyong-Chang Winter Olympics Games, which kicks off on the 9th of February of next year. This will be South Korea’s second Olympic games, the first held in Seoul in 1988, and its first ever Winter Olympic and Paralympic events.
The Consul General Nakyoung Oh delivered a speech on the historical relations between the two nations, as more young Saudis are learning Korean, and indulging in K-pop and drama culture.
A presentation was given on different aspects of Korean life including a number of most known phrases for the viewers’ pleasure. After that a contest was held at the end of the presentation with most winners belonging to a group of young girls whom are clearly experts on all things Korean. Korea’s infamous K-pop music was playing in the background as guests enjoyed local dishes.
“It gives me great pleasure to have had the opportunity to meet with the distinguished guests of whom are interested in Korean culture. I’ve enjoyed my time greatly in the Kingdom and as I prepare myself for my next post, I hope to see more young girls and boys grow interested in Korean culture. Jeddah has been wonderful and I will be back surely one day,” said Consul General Oh.
